Using an internet browser, navigate to http://www.forticlient.com/ and from there download the relevant client for your operating system.
Once the file has downloaded, open it and when asked "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer?" Click "Yes".
The software will then download the latest updates and perform a few checks before allowing you to install the program.
When prompted, tick the box next to "Yes, I have read and accept the" and click "Next.
Select the "Secure Remote Access" option and press next. And next again. Then select Install/
Installing the complete version will result in your anti-virus being removed, should you use a vendor such as Norton or Sophos.
Once your machine has restarted, you should now have a new icon on your desktop called "FortiClient". Double click on this icon to launch the program.
Click on "Configure VPN".
Perform the following steps:
- Select "SSL-VPN".
- Enter "Clinical School", "Zoology" or "SLCU" for connection name and description.
- Tick "Customize Port" and enter 10443.
- Tick "Do not warn Invalid Server Certificate".
The remote gateway will depend on which site you are connecting from:
Under username enter your username. This does not require the domain prefix. (e.g. MINTS\HRD23 should be entered as just HRD23)
Enter the password that you use for this account.
After you have entered your username and password press the "Connect" button.
Assuming you have entered valid details and you are set up to use the VPN then you will establish a connection.
When you have finished, press the disconnect button to terminate the connection.
Error installing VPN client:
If you get an error that 'Windows requires a digitally signed driver' it is typically a Windows 7 SP1 computer that is missing KB3033929. It can be downloaded from https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=46148.
